Anxiety affects millions of people in the United States and around the world. Anxiety can be caused by many factors depending on the person. The symptoms of which can be restlessness, tense or sore muscles, or fatigue. Anxiety itself cannot be cured as it is often an irrational state of being. However, treating the symptoms that cause the most distress is an excellent way to help slow anxiety causing triggers.

As stated above restlessness is a very common symptom of anxiety especially for those who have severe problems. They may pace around, bite their nails, fiddle with their cuffs or some other part of their clothing. Twenty minutes in the sauna is said to calm this restlessness. The heat produced especially in an infrared or combination sauna penetrates the body and the heat warms and calms and relaxes you. The user will find themselves much less fidgety through their normal daily life with twenty minutes session four times a week and this is why many sufferers get a sauna in their home.

Another symptom, which is tense muscles, and these are a very annoying and when you are very stressed or tense it can be extremely painful. The steam and deep heat will seek out the muscles and tissues from within and therefore relax them. This will be incredibly soothing in a very short space of time.

The fatigue element of anxiety and depression can also be treated with visits to the sauna. They do this by calming the person to a point where they feel relaxed to such an extent that they can sleep right through the night and the body can get the recharge it has so profoundly needed. It is therefore recommended that you have your sauna around 8 or 9 pm at night to encourage this sleep. This can therefore also begin to treat people who suffer from insomnia.

This theme can be widened to those who are kept awake or woken up by pain. Chronic pain is one of the most awful problems and will lead you to being sleep deprived. The pain receptors will cause you to awake from slumber. Infrared saunas have actually been shown to relieve pain and encourage a much better night’s sleep. This is because the heat heats the muscles to their core and doesn’t just heat the surface of the skin. This is therefore how the muscles are massaged to a pain free status which then encourages a great night’s sleep.
