Cities in Southern California That Everyone Can Visit

Have you always been wanting to hit up the West Coast, but just assume that a trip to California is way out of your budget? Most people perceive Cali as a land only for the rich and famous, but contrary to popular belief a trip to the southern part of the state can be quite affordable if you do it right. Although the budget-friendly cities may not be the biggest tourist hotspots, these destinations will give you a true taste of California. Here are some of the most affordable SoCal cities, so be sure to include them on your itinerary.

Irvine

A trip to Irvine will give you the chance to experience the wide range of the activities that Cali has to offer. Even though it is not situated on the coast, there’s tons to do here without breaking the bank. With several wildlife sanctuaries and pristine parks you’ll get a healthy dose of fresh air. Be sure to visit the Irvine Spectrum Center, which is home to some of the city’s most popular restaurants and shops.

Fullerton

Even though Fullerton is located in the famous Orange County of California, you’ll be able to stay within budget if you decide to vacation here. Nature lovers will be in heaven, with easy access to Fullerton Arboretum and the picturesque Laguna Lake Park. If you have kids, consider taking them to Disneyland, which is just a few miles away in nearby Anaheim. Save a few bucks by staying away from those pricey Disney resorts and hotels and commuting from Fullerton instead.

Rancho Santa Margarita

Another ideal destination for the nature lover in you, Rancho Santa Margarita offers so much in terms of outdoor activities. You can spend a full day hiking at Whiting Ranch Wilderness Park or O’Neill Regional Park, or if that’s not your thing visit the Cismontane Brewing Company for a beer or two. If you’re wanting to get out on the water, check out a paddle board yoga class with SoCal Paddle Yoga. If you’re in Rancho Santa Margarita during the summer months, check out Central Park, which is known for its free concerts in the summertime.

Anaheim

Home to the famous Disneyland and Disney California Adventure, Anaheim is a top destination for travelling families. Universal Studios is also just a quick trip away, as well as Los Angeles. Make a day out of visiting L.A. by signing up for a sightseeing tour, where you’ll get a chance to see famous celebrity homes and the Hollywood Walk of Fame. If you’re more interested in getting out on the water, there are plenty of affordable tours leaving from Anaheim for whale watching and touring the Orange County beaches. If you’re travelling during baseball season, make a trip to the Angels Stadium for a game. The area surrounding the stadium is home to the city’s most talked-about restaurants, shops, and cafes.

There you are, some places everyone van visit when in California. Besides staying healthy while traveling, staying within your budget is also important regardless of what that is. You want to leave the trip feeling refreshed, rejuvenated and with a positive vibe. You don’t want to come back feeling stressed about all your overspending and California is a place everyone should visit at least once if possible.
