Follow These Tricks in the Morning to Look and Feel Your Best

Have you been waking up in the morning feeling sluggish, wishing you could sleep for another hour or two or ten? Don’t worry, we all have at one time or another. Maybe you need a change in your morning routine? Rather than going straight for the coffee as soon as you roll out of bed, adopt these morning habits to feel refreshed and ready to conquer your day. Do your best to stop “snoozing”

It’s difficult to resist hitting that snooze button over and over again, but you’re better off without it! Even though you might get another few minutes of shut eye, it is such a low-quality form of sleep that it is actually making you feel more tired when you actually get up. So even if your finger gravitates to that button as soon as your alarm starts sounding, try your best to roll out of bed and start your day instead.

Drink a mug of warm lemon water

While you sleep, your body becomes dehydrated – typically you haven’t had anything to drink for about eight hours. So the best thing to do as soon as we wake is to drink a full glass of water. Even better is drinking warm (not hot) lemon water. It can help flush the digestive system and the vitamin C in the lemon gives your immune system that boost it needs first thing in the morning. Doing this has also shown to promote happy skin and a healthy weight.

Exercise

This might be hard for a lot of people to do first thing in the morning, especially if you have kids or an intense work schedule. But do your best to get in some form of exercise before you start your other daily routines, even if it’s just fifteen minutes of meditation or yoga. The endorphins that your brain releases while exercising will actually improve your mood and relieve stress, leaving you feeling happier and healthier.

Eat breakfast

Many people forego breakfast due to their fast-paced lifestyles, but eating a healthy and hearty breakfast each morning will give you the energy you need to put your best foot forward. Eating a larger meal in the morning is actually great for maintaining a healthy weight, and by skipping breakfast you might actually be risking overeating later in the day, causing your body to feel sluggish. So go ahead, enjoy that bacon and eggs with your cup of joe every morning!
